The status of all patients must be documented on the patient file during rounds, medications and necessary examinations must also be entered into the fever chart.

All rounds consist of two sections: first the ward doctor and ward nurse make a round and then the head of round with residents and the head of ward nurse.

Duty round: On bank holidays and at weekends the appointed duty doctor makes the round with the ward nurse first, and then again, if not otherwise arranged, with the leading duty doctor.
